Meet Super Wyatt, our local super hero! He protects his sister for a living and loves to scare his mom and dad! He's also quite goofy. :)
We had quite the scare last Wednesday with Ruthie. She had had a cough for a few days, but no fever. Our wonderful daycare woman texted me Wednesday afternoon that she thought I should get Ruthie in to the doctor as she just wasn't herself and seemed to be getting sicker.
We went into Critical Care around dinner time. We quickly were taken across the street to the ER because her little heart was beating more than 228 beats per minute. Even the doctor couldn't hide his concern. After an IV, Tylenol, heart monitor, testing, and some nursing from me it was decided she needed to be admitted to the hospital....in Sioux Falls! She got an ambulance ride to Sanford Children's Hospital in the middle of the night.
Long story short, she has RSV and was dehydrated. After an IV, fever breaking, and lots of boogers being sucked out she was much more herself. Her heart went back to a normal 150-160 beats per minute! We were discharged less than 24 hours after arriving and couldn't wait to get home!
Since being home Ruthie has gotten better each day. Now a week later she just barely has a dry cough left. She is now back to babbling and giggling at her brother!
We can't say enough about the care Ruthie was given, both in Spencer and in Sioux Falls. I will recommend Sanford's Children Hospital to anyone in the area looking for a medical center for a child.
Wyatt enjoyed staying with my parents while we were 'at the baby hospital'. They took him to 'the happy meal store' and he even got to eat inside! We were all happy to get home and get back to our normal routine.
