As Promised!

As promised....here is the final product for our Frozen Rainbow Chiffon cake. It is very sweet and reminds us of an ice cream cake...only their is no milk in it!

It is pretty dang delicious, a little rich, but well worth the trouble!

Random-ness from the week!

Earlier in the week Brian made a grasshopper pie....totally delicious! Chocolate and mint....also known as heaven!

I on the other hand...created a doggie and doggie house for Wyatt...(not edible) :)

How cool does he look?! Wyatt all ready to go outside and play...if it wasn't 100 degrees!

We also got him a new toy this week....A boxing/punching bag....he finds it hilarious that it comes back and hits him after he hits it! This probably wouldn't be a good toy if we have more than one child...I could totally see two little kids getting hurt with this!

Frozen Rainbow Chiffon Cake

Brian and I tried another new recipe today....from Martha Steward Living magazine. It took all day as each layer had to freeze for 2 hours before the next could be added.

Here are the layers before we frosted it with delicious 7-minute frosting! Each layer is fresh fruit that we pureed and then added a sugar syrup and eggs white to.

Here is the finished product with the frosting on it! We are going to let it freeze overnight before we try it. I will post a picture of what it looks like when cut into.

I will admit that I was apprehensive about making it when Brian found it in the magazine, but with the use of a few peoples fancy cooking equipment (spring form pans and sieve) I think it wasn't as difficult as I thought.

Hopefully it will be as delicious as we are expecting it to be!

Silly Little Boy

Just hangin' out watching Toy Story on another hot hot day in Iowa! He didn't see me with my phone taking a picture that is why he's actually sitting still. As soon as it flashed he was snapped out of his stillness.

I'm not sure why Wyatt likes to do this....but he finds it hilarious. I wasn't supposed to watch Beavis and Butthead back in the day, but this sure does remind me of one of its characters.

Random Photos from the Month

We've been to the park a lot lately. The park at East Leach has a pirate ship in it. He loves it! He is checking out where the hidden treasure is on the treasure map!
A quick picture of him coming down a tube slide.

Wyatt was very apprehensive about climbing through this tube...but after seeing a few big kids do it he just had to try it! Look at that determined face!

After swimming with a regular pull-up on, we found out why they sell diapers especially made for swimming....the pull-up probably weighted 5 pounds!

Lastly, this is the grin I get these days when I ask for a smile for the camera.....total cheese!

Here rabbit rabbit rabbit

Wyatt and I went to the park a few days ago....he is usually all over the play equipment, but not today. He found a baby rabbit eating just beyond the fence line. He proceeded to 'roar' at it until it ran away.
He ran after it and gave up for awhile to play on the slides....and check out his shadow on the ground.

Then he found the rabbit again.....I don't know if he will be a hunter, animal lover, or that kid that gives animals a hard time.....I hope an animal lover! (He did want to pet it!)

new desserts!!

Brian and I have been trying a few new recipes lately...here are two of the most recent.

This first one is a grilled dessert pizza....we got the recipe from Theresa Bentz...one of my former co-workers wives. It is Chef Boyardee pizza dough grilled with peanut butter, chocolate, and marshmallows on top! Delicious!

This is a lemonade icebox pie with strawberries and meringue as toppings. We made our own graham cracker crush, filling, and meringue! We got the recipe from Martha Stewart Living Magazine.

fun at grandma and grandpa's

Wyatt's grandma bought him this awesome swimming pool. He absolutely loves it.

The weather was relatively nice this past weekend and he and I spent a lot of time in it. Apparently golf is now a water sport.....creative mind!

Brian worked some iPhone magic on this picture...pretty cool!

We have also spent a lot of time at the parks in town this summer. He's mastered climbing and slides, but refuses to sit still long enough to have a swing ride!
